For the third consecutive year , the Department of Geography at the University Rovira i Virgili organized the Seminar on Geography , this time dedicated to Population Geography .
The event, held on 13rd March 2014 in the Aula Magna of the Faculty of Tourism and Geography ( Vila-seca ) consisted of four presentations on demographic topics.
In the first one , Dr. and Professor Emeritus at the URV's Geography Department , Santiago Roquer, exposed the main results of the research project " Migration of foreign women in a rural transformation : the case of Catalonia ", directed by Professor Montserrat Soronellas . Afterwards, Hicham Achebak graduate in Geography and Spatial Planning for our university, presented the final grade work entitled " Immigration and the city. Grouping and spatial segregation of the moroccan population of Tarragona," which has recently been awarded with the " Luis Casassas i Simó " prize organized by the Catalan Society of Geography .
After a brief snack , the event continued with a talk given by Mireia Farré , head of the Production of Statistics of the Demographic Statistical Institute of Catalonia, on the new and innovative housing and population census 2011. Finally the act concluded with the talk "30 years of population in Catalonia , 1984-2014" by Dr. Anna Cabre , professor in the Department of Geography at the Autonomous University of Barcelona and director of the Center for Demographic Studies.
